Collagen-induced Arthritis (CIA) Model
Creative Animodel offers the most comprehensive service for developing animal models of Rheumatoid Arthritis. Our experts and scientists has plenty of experience in Rheumatoid Arthritis research and they would work closely with you on every step to choose and develop the most appropriate model of Rheumatoid Arthritis for your research. We also provide preclinical service for Rheumatoid Arthritis study such as evaluation of RA based on the immunohistochemistry, and assessment of major immune factors such as IL-1, TNF-α, IL-10. Creative Animodel offers the best team and best service to assist you to achieve your research goals.
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune disease. Many mouse models of RA have been found, including the Collagen induced arthritis (CIA) model, Collagen antibody-induced arthritis (CAIA) model, and Adjuvant induced arthritis (AIA) model. Research have proved that Animal models of autoimmune are great tools for the study of mechanisms of the disease as well as testing the new treatments.
Among the different animal models, collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) mouse model is the most popular and commonly used model. It is believed that CIA model is appropriate for pathogenic mechanisms study, new therapy study, and preclinical assessment of the therapeutics for RA. CIA model is induced by immunization with heterologous type II collagen in complete Freund's adjuvant (CFA).
10 to 12 weeks old mice are normally used for the induction. 200 µg of type II collagen in CFA was intradermal injected at the base of tail. After immunization, it takes 3-4 weeks for the arthritis to establish and appear. The induced arthritis shows the same clinical, histological and immunological features with the human rheumatoid arthritis including increase of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α, IL-6, erosion of bones, and pannus formation. (Brand et al., 2007) (Inglis et al., 2007)
Creative Animodel also provides various preclinical services which includes, but not limited to:
- • Clinical Score of arthritis assessment
- • Body weight measurement
- • Immunohistochemically evaluation of the arthritis pathology in joints
- • Evaluation of ankle and paw joint swelling
- • Assessment of major immune factors such as IL-1, TNF-α
- • Flow cytometric analysis of the inflammatory cells
CIA model is normally induced on mouse as C57BL/6 or DBA/1 strain. However, Creative Animodel also provides the CIA model in rats. For rat CIA model, it takes less time to create the model. Normally after three weeks there will be symptoms.
Creative Animodel is a reliable and trusted partner. We are dedicated to create the most appropriate animal models of Rheumatoid Arthritis for our customers. Our experienced scientists work with you on every step from model selection to model creation. Our preclinical service accelerates the speed to achieve your research goals.
