CNS Disease Models

Due to complexity of neuroscience studies, animal experiments have advantage of providing more physiological responses than in vitro and computer models. NHP models is more applicable for their similar aging process to human. CNS Disease Models

Alzheimer’s disease
Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is one of most common neurological diseases and characterized by memory loss and executive dysfunction. Around 65% of dementia patients are reported having AD symptoms. For better study of AD, Creative Animodel group provide various AD animal models including mouse, dog, goat, sheep and primate. Creative Animodel develops AD models by causing cholinergic neuron degeneration through pharmacological and surgical approaches. Besides, transgenic model of AD, such as mutation of genes in amyloid precursor protein, presenilin-1 and presenilin-2, are possible at request.

Huntington’s Disease
Huntington’s Disease (HD) is a genetic defect disease featured with physical discoordination and mental decline. Researchers usually rely on rodent model for HD studies and these may not perform all nervous disorders and illnesses. Creative animodel can offer our customers with high quality transgenic monkey models for HD studies. NHP HD model is developed by injecting mutant HTT gene into oocytes of primate before fertilization and then transferred embryos into female monkey. HD symptoms such as clumsy muscle movement and neuronal damage may displays in newborn primates.                  

Parkinson’s disease
Parkinson’s disease (PD) patient have hardness at operating motor system, detail symptoms include: shaking, rigidity and slowness during movement. Creative animodel team provides two popular PD models: 6-hydroxydopamine (6-OHDA) and 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP) induced models. 6-OHDA can kill dopaminergic neurons in brain by triggering production of reactive oxygen species and mimic abnormal behavior. For 6-OHDA cannot pass blood and brain barrier, dependent on different research purposes, injection locations include striatum, substantia nigra or medial forebrain bundle, and to avoid risk of aphagia, adipsia and akinesia caused by bilateral injection, Creative Animodel recommends our unilateral 6-OHDA model. Similar to 6-OHDA, MPTP is a prodrug of dopaminergic neurotoxin, which converts to toxic MPP+ by enzyme MAO-B in glial cells. Creative Animodel provides MPTP-treated old world monkey PD model, based on project design, MPTP treatment is applicable for both unilateral and bilateral lesions via intravenous or intraperitoneal injections.
