Creative Animodel offers our global clients several in vitro assays to help determine the efficacy, mechanism of action and toxicity of compounds. In addition, we have over 150 human disease models which are valuable tools to evaluate new small molecules and biologics, siRNA and liposomal formulated drugs. Based on these advantages, we provide a package of in vivo pharmacology services to accelerate the process of your new drug discovery and development. Service related to psoriasis is one of our features.
What Is Psoriasis?
Psoriasis is a kind of the long-term, persistent and inflammatory of skin disorders characterized by the patches of abnormal skin, which is caused by skin cells that regenerate multiple times faster than normal. With underlying cells reach the skin's surface and die, which causes raised, red plaques covered with white scales. Typically, psoriasis occurs on the knees, elbows, and scalp, sometimes it can also appear on the torso, palms, and soles of the feet.
There are five main types of psoriasis: plaque, guttate, inverse, pustular, and erythrodermic. Plaque psoriasis (also known as psoriasis vulgaris) makes up about 90% cases. Around one-third of people with psoriasis have a family history of the disease. Researchers have identified several genetic loci associated with the condition, but it is unclear how those genes work together due to many genes are associated with it. Meanwhile, researchers have found a "trigger" may be necessary to induce psoriasis, like environment, drug, microbes, etc.
Unfortunately, there is currently no cure for psoriasis; only various treatments can help to control the symptoms. And Psoriasis may increase the risk of psoriatic arthritis, lymphomas, cardiovascular disease, Crohn's disease and depression. So it's important to find the therapy for treating the disease.
Psoriasis Models Provided by Creative Animodel
Modeling psoriasis in experimental animals would be of great benefit to psoriasis research and drug development. At Creative Animodel, we provide:
• Imiquimod (IMQ) induced psoriasis in wild type mice
• IMQ-induced psoriasis in human transgenic mice
• Immunomodulator (imiquimod topical application / IL23 intra-dermal application) induced psoriasis in
immunocompetent rodent species (Balb/c & C57Bl6)
In addition, we also have a package of outcomes evaluation:
• Skin thickness measurement (ear / back)
• Clinical endpoints / Total scoring
• Blood samplings for circulating and skin biomarkers analysis (cytokines)
• In vivo imaging (confocal microscopy)
• Ex vivo imaging (histology / IHC)
Creative Animodel’s in vivo pharmacology services department provides clinical pathology services based on all animal species, bioanalytical for new drug and biologics. And we are also capable to proceed to cell-based functional assays to support pharmaceutical product development. We will be appreciated to be your partner to make a contribution to human health together. Looking forward to working with you in the near future.
